Does someone need to be a Christian to be admitted into
the SSM program?
Absolutely not! We interview
individuals from any and all faith backgrounds.
However, it must be understood before acceptance into our program
that we use the Bible as the main source of our classroom teaching.
The single most important factor for being admitted into the SSM
program is a man’s attitude.
Each candidate must demonstrate a sincere desire to find the help he
needs.
Can I come and go off the property?
Unfortunately not. Because the property is in a rural setting,
we don’t have the capability to transfer residents on and off the
property.
Can I have a job while I’m in the program?
No. This is an intense 10 month discipleships program teaching men how to lead a Godly life. Therefore, it is important to have all residents onsite for mentoring and coaching.
Can my family visit me while I’m in the program?
After a 30 day black-out period, immediate family members (wives, children, parents) can make arrangements to visit. All visitors must be committed to a clean and sober life themselves.
Is the program state approved?
Not at this time; however, our goal is to obtain state certification by 2013.
I’m getting out in a year, will you save a bed for me?
Because of the limited number of beds available, we ask all potential candidates to wait until 90-120 days from their release date to apply.
Are cigarettes allowed?
Standing Stones is a smoke-free property because we believe in
treating the whole person from addictions.
If I leave the program, can I come back later?
When we interview a candidate, we make it clear this is a 10-month program and we will only allow people into our program who are fully committed to staying the entire time. There is never a good reason for not staying with your commitment. However, we will make concession for a man who truly wants to start over provided we have bed space.
Can I enter the program with serious health issues?
Being a smaller program, SSM does not have medical staff on site. We suggest to those who have health issues to contact us after they have been medically treated.
Can I leave the program to attend future court dates?
We certainly discourage this as it breaks up the continuity of the program. We suggest that the prospective candidate write the courts to receive a postponement of their court date. We will work with candidates in corresponding with the courts. It is suggested that each candidate clear up all court responsibilities before entering the program.
What kind of work will I be doing on the property?
Standing Stones is a working orchard and all candidates must be willing to do farm work and manual labor. While addicts often do not have a good work ethic, our residents work 4-6 hours on the farm each day. We’ve found that the sense of accomplishment experienced at the end of a day’s work is an integral component of our recovery program.
